5: ASUS VivoBook 15 Thin and Light Laptop

There’s absolutely no doubt about it. The Asus VivoBook 15 is the best laptop for streaming and is among the best budget laptops for streaming we’ve reviewed.

The trend among notebooks in recent years has been moving towards the premise of less is more, with ultraportables getting insanely smaller, thinner, and lighter.

And, the VivoBook 15 (F512JA-AS34) from Asus takes that direction at a very reasonable price. In addition to the good design, it also satisfies a few other needs, like a cool big screen to play with, for instance.

Whether you need some for working from home a laptop for number-crunching spreadsheets at the office, or just watching Money Heist on Netflix, the Asus VivoBook 15 is the best laptop for streaming and is a great partner with its large, bright 15.6-inch display.

Combine that with a fairly slim design that we can say is quite portable and solid 10th Gen processor performance, and you have an ace in your hand without having to spend too much.

Design

The VivoBook F512JA-AS34 is a well-crafted laptop with a slick design and exciting color schemes. Finally, Asus is breaking away from the silver aluminum motif, something that they experimented with the Asus ZenBook 3, and it happens that we’re getting what we’ve always asked for unique color options in a budget laptop.

We got to see the slate gray and blue, with the other finishes being coral crush, grey and transparent silver. The slate gray is definitely the showstopper.

This particular machine has a gray brushed aluminum lid and a shiny, gray deck with barely visible crosshatching. The model we’re reviewing has its own flair, sporting a Chrome logo on the lid and a faux-aluminum deck.

But design isn’t the only reason to get excited about the Asus VivoBook 15 is the best laptop for streaming. Asus introduced the ErgoLift on the ZenBook S, an innovative hinge that raises the keyboard for a comfortable typing experience, and we’re happy it’s making a pleasant return.

This time around, the rear of the keyboard tilts upward at a 3.5-degree angle, thereby, delivering a better typing experience and improving audio and heat management. At 14.1 x 9.1 x 0.8 inches and weighing 3.75 pounds, the VivoBook 15 is relatively compact for a 15.6-inch laptop.

Display

With such a premium design, we only wish Asus used an equally vibrant display. The Asus VivoBook 15 best laptop for streaming in 2022 comes with a 15.6-inch 1080p display, that is sharp and bright but fails to deliver perfect colors.

The screen can only reproduce 68 percent of the sRGB color spectrum, which is lower than competing laptops: Lenovo Ideapad 530s (72 percent) and the Acer Aspire 5 (74 percent) two laptops with the notable dull display.

All of them score below the 89 percent mainstream laptop average. However, it manages to top the mainstream laptop average (242 nits) with an impressive 257 nits, meaning it should be visible outdoors, even on a sunny day.

Performance

The Asus VivoBook 15 (F512JA-AS34) as configured, is on the beefy side for a sub-$500 notebook, that offers better performance than competing Chromebooks, like last year’s HP Chromebook 14.

The 10th Gen Intel Core i5-1005G1 is a new mobile chip that offers strong performance matched with efficiency, and the 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD storage give it a serious boost over similar machines with traditional rotating hard drives.

For graphics, you have an Intel UHD graphics card that is quite usable for basic tasks that utilize an integrated card, though it itself is definitely not enough to power ASUS VivoBook 15 Thin and Light Laptop gaming.

On day-to-day use, the VivoBook 15 is the best laptop for streaming and will easily keep up with your demands. Four cores of computing power are plenty for most tasks, and with headroom-to-boot clock speeds of 3.6GHz, it can burst as needed.

This keeps the laptop feeling snappy, with the SSD launching programs quickly, and some simple tasks, like basic photo editing, working fast.

The integrated graphics card won’t play the latest ASUS VivoBook 15 Thin and Light Laptop games, but you can get away with less demanding games at low to medium graphics settings.

It can run racing games like Dirt 3 at 58 frames per second, staying ahead of the IdeaPad 530s (47fps), and the Acer Aspire 5 (35 FPS), and well over the mainstream laptop average (44 fps). If you need a laptop for gaming on a budget, the Asus TUF FX505DT-AH51 is an excellent pick.

Battery Life

The Asus VivoBook 15 uses an energy-efficient CPU, which adds to good, but not great battery life. The notebook lasts 8 hours 24 minutes, over the IdeaPad 530s’ 7 hours 43 minutes, but still behind the Aspire 5 last 9 hours 27 minutes on a single charge. The mainstream-laptop average of 7:28 is about an hour shorter than the VivoBook 15’s runtime.

Pros

  • Rock-solid build quality
  • Modern, attractive aesthetic
  • Tiny chassis without compromises
  • Excellent day-to-day performance

Cons

  • Not-so-colorful display
  • No Thunderbolt 3 support

Conclusion

The Asus VivoBook 15 strikes a nice balance between its large display, and good design, whilst also delivering strong all-round performance and good connectivity at a very competitive price. The battery life doesn’t break any records, but it’s still respectable for a budget 15-inch laptop.

Overall, the Asus VivoBook 15 F512JA-AS34 still provides good value for money for anyone that’s shopping for a large-screen laptop for home, college, or the office.

6: Acer Aspire 5 A517-52-59SV

Laptops for live streaming like the Acer Aspire 5 A517-52-59SV are a staple in the budget and mid-range laptop market, allowing users to get their hands on a laptop that can handle productivity work, streaming, email, and web browsing.

The first time I used an Aspire 5 was in 2018, and needless to say, the product line has been refined since then with a far more modern look and enhanced performance hardware.

Now, we have one of the latest Aspire 5 models in for review, with product number A517-52-59SV. It packs almost the same components as its stablemate, the Acer Aspire 5 A515-56-73AP that we reviewed a few weeks ago, but instead of a 15.6 IPS display, it gets a bigger, 17.3-inch IPS display, alongside powerful components and solid performance while keeping the price affordable and accessible.

Updated with 11th-generation Intel Core processors, this more than competent laptop ticks all the boxes you’d want for a day-to-day laptop with a big screen.

The Acer Aspire 5 has proven once again that mid-range machines are the way to go. And, provided your needs don’t include a whole lot of video editing or designing, with its large screen, this might just be the best laptop for you.

Features

  • Laptop Class: Budget, Desktop Replacement
  • Processor: 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7
  • RAM (as Tested): 8 GB
  • Boot Drive Capacity (as Tested): 256 GB SSD
  • Screen Size: 17.3 inches
  • Native Display Resolution: 1920 by 1080
  • Touch Screen: No
  • Panel Technology: IPS
  • Graphics Processor: Intel Iris Xe Graphics
  • Dimensions (HWD): 15.89 x 10.38 x 0.78 inches
  • Weight: 4.72 pounds
  • Operating System: Windows 10 Home

Display

The large Aspire 5 is the best laptop for streaming is a welcome reminder that a self-mandated price limit for your next laptop doesn’t have to restrict your choices to a boring laptop that will struggle to get you through a night’s homework or a day of answering emails at the office.

The Aspire 5 A517-52-59SV’s star attraction, of course, is a roomy 17.3-inch, full HD (1,920-by-1,080-pixel) display. Most laptop shoppers aren’t looking for screens this big, which means they’re quite scarce at pretty much every price point.

So, the fact that you can get your hands on a laptop this cheap, with few compromises is a major win from the get-go.

best laptop for streaming

With a bright silver finish inside and out alongside an aluminum exterior, the Aspire 5 looks modern from every angle. The black screen bezels are an exception to the silver expanses but are slim enough not to be obtrusive.

If you’re expecting to get an ultraportable at this price, however, you’ll have to get realistic: The Aspire 5 A517-52-59SV weighs 4.7 pounds and measures 15.89 x 10.38 x 0.78 inches.

Compare that with the slimmest 17.3-inch ultraportable we’ve reviewed, the LG Gram 17, just 0.7 x 15 x 10.2 inches and 2.98 pounds.

Port selection is good, with most ports that you’ll find useful on a daily basis including two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0, a USB-C, Ethernet, and an SD memory card port. All these give you plenty of options for connecting your peripherals.

Aspire 5 Keyboard & Pad

While the touchpad does include a built-in fingerprint reader, it doesn’t feature dedicated left-and right-click buttons below it.

Instead, what you have is an entire surface on the pad that’s clickable, but it’s unfortunately flexible which results in some noticeable mushy feel whenever you click.

Again, the pad lacks tracking precision, which becomes an issue when you want to drag onscreen elements. Increasing the sensitivity level in the Windows Precision Touchpad settings makes it a little better.

The backlit keyboard above the touchpad is comfortable. Given the flexibility of the rest of the chassis, the keyboard is remarkably sturdy with little give even when you strike the keys forcefully.

There’s a dedicated number pad on the right side, but unlike the main part of the board, its keys are not full-size.

Acer-Aspire-5-A517-52-59SV-screen-579x350-1

Battery Life

As it turns out, the Acer Aspire 5’s battery is a better performer as compared to last year’s Acer Aspire 5 which had an underwhelming battery.

Acer claims that it will last 8 hours on a single charge, but in real-life use, you’re getting around 7 hours and 12 minutes, which isn’t bad at all.

Pros

  • Aggressively priced
  • Sleek silver exterior
  • Excellent battery life
  • Decent power for everyday computing tasks

Cons

  • Mediocre build quality
  • Imprecise touchpad

Conclusion

On a more expensive ultraportable laptop, a chassis with mediocre build quality, a middling touchpad, and uninspired speakers would be dealbreakers.

On the Aspire 5, however, the combination of a pleasing, 17.3-inch 1080p display, decent travel weight, and a palatable price mean that the laptop’s main drawbacks are mere compromises to just note in advance instead of reasons not to buy.

Whether these drawbacks carry the weight depends on your priorities. On a performance basis, you can do better but you’ll settle with a bulky machine that will weigh down your backpack.

In the end, the most important considerations are how much you are willing to spend and what you plan to use this laptop for.

If all you’re looking for is a big-screen machine for day-to-day tasks and don’t have so much money on the table, the Acer Aspire 5 A517-52-59SV is a proper contender for your cash.

7: Asus ZenBook 13 Design

Like all other ZenBooks, the ZenBook UX325EA-XS74 is quite a looker. The chassis is made of Pine Gray aluminum alloy, and except for the shiny chrome Asus logo embedded on the lid, the rest of the laptop is plain.

While the lid isn’t a fingerprint magnet, like its convertible sibling, the Asus ZenBook Flip S, it still collects its fair share of smudges.

The Pine Gray theme extends into the interior of the laptop sans the concentric circles. You’ll find the matte surface cool to the touch.

The lower part of the deck has a slightly raised palm rest with a big touchpad, and it gives way to a recessed full-size keyboard. The laptop opens to reveal Asus’ ErgoLift hinge which raises the keyboard 3 degrees, for comfortable typing.

At 2.45 pounds and 0.5 inches thin, the Asus ZenBook 13 is the best laptop for streaming and is a serious lightweight device.

The Acer Swift 3 is slightly heavier at 2.7 pounds and 0.6 inches thick, the HP Envy (2.8 pounds, 0.6 inches) and MacBook Air (2.8 pounds, 0.6 inches) are the possible lightweights here as well.

Display

The ZenBook 13 is the best laptop for streaming and uses an OLED display that delivers a punch, with clean detail when watching movies and running productivity apps.

This panel measures 76.2% on the DCI-P3 color gamut which is slightly below the 83.4% premium laptop average but above the Acer Swift 3’s 44.3% coverage. However, it’s not enough to surpass the HP Envy’s 81.9% or the MacBook Air’s 81%.

As mentioned, the UX325EA-XS74 uses an OLED panel that offers 400 nits brightness, making it brighter than the almost identical Asus ZenBook 13 UX325EA-AH77, with a full HD display (371 nits), but both are way better than the Asus Swift’s 253 nits. Again, both panels score above the 382-nit average, but still below the HP Envy which maxes out at 401 nits.

Ports

The ZenBook 13 has very useful ports and slots. For a start, you have a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port on the right, next to a microSD card slot.

The left panel holds a full HDMI 2.0 port and a pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports – making the UX325EA-XS74 one of the first laptops to support the next-gen charging standards.

Even with the exciting port options, it lacks a headset jack, ushering in the controversial trend of a disappearing headphone port. Wireless connectivity comes in the way of Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.

Keyboard & NumberPad 2.0

Asus offers the best keyboards on ZenBook laptops, without a doubt. The keyboard here is springy and comfortable with plenty of space on the large, slightly concave keys.

Also, the keys have generous spacing to keep you going on a long college paper or office report. The LED backlighting is nice and bright for our liking, as it makes it easy to read the lettering in a darkened room.

To make it even better, you have the option to adjust the backlighting to brighter or dimmer. The Asus UX325EA-XS74 has an enormous touchpad. It measures 5.1 x 2.6 inches, and the ZenBook 13’s glass acts as a traditional touchpad.

That means you don’t have any problems performing the usual multitouch Windows 10 gestures, including pinch-zoom, two-finger scrolling, and three-finger taps.

For those who need to crunch lots of numbers, the touchpad can transform into a calculator with the touch of an icon. All that is thanks to Asus’ NumberPad 2.0 technology, tapping the icon in the top-right corner turns the touchpad into a calculator, with complete mathematical symbols.

Performance

The ZenBook 13 is the best laptop for streaming and is the first production laptop we’re reviewing with Intel’s Tiger Lake CPU. The Core i7-1165G7 is a quad-core chip, with eight threads, with a base frequency of 2.8Ghz.

It also rocks Intel’s latest Iris Xe Graphics processor. This new integrated graphics engine offers performance that almost matches an entry-level best gaming laptop with a discrete GPU and is a boon to people who need an ultraportable laptop, with the occasional need to play games.

To the newer CPU, Asus offers 16GB of RAM and 512GB PCIe SSD storage. With these features, the ZenBook 13 readily offers excellent graphics and computing performance, which is ultimately expected given its cutting-edge processor.

It’s a perfect match for office-centric tasks such as word processing, huge spreadsheets, web browsing, and videoconferencing.

The Iris Xe Graphics processor offers plenty of graphics muscle for light gaming, averaging 44 frames per second (fps) on modern titles at high settings.

In fact, it’s better than the AMD Radeon Graphics in the Envy x360, and that suggests that people who are willing to compromise detail and resolution can comfortably use the ZenBook 13 as an alternative entry-level gaming laptop.

Battery Life

Intel’s 11th Gen processor also brings onboard Intel Evo, which is the second stage in the company’s Project Athena initiative. Evo ushers in a number of requirements for laptops to receive Intel’s certification. Top on the list is at least 9 hours of battery life for all 1080p systems.

The ZenBook 13 UX325EA is the best laptop for streaming and easily exceeds those requirements, lasting 13 hours and 48 minutes on a single charge.

That’s more than three hours longer than the 10:02 premium laptop average. Compared: the MacBook Air lasts 9:32 minutes, while the Swift 3 lasts 11:09 hours on a single charge.

Pros

  • Speedy performance
  • Sleek, lightweight design
  • Excellent battery life
  • Relatively inexpensive

Cons

  • No headphone jack
  • Cramped keyboard

Conclusion

The Asus ZenBook 13 is the best laptop for streaming and easily straddles the distinct line between business and premium laptops.

For the price, you’re getting a beautiful system, reminiscent of Asus’ top-tier laptops with the same durability and security features of the ExpertBook, the company’s latest business line.

Plus, you get the additional muscle of Intel’s new 11th Gen processors, and all the features Intel’s Evo initiative brings, including more than 13 hours of battery life. If that’s not enough reason to buy this system, a pinch of gaming is more reason to grab it.

Alternatives in the category include the HP Envy 13 with a 10th Gen Intel Core i7-1065G7 processor, 8GB RAM, and a 4K UHD IPS touchscreen (401 nits).

The Dell XPS 13 (9310) is an even better alternative, offering class-leading performance in a sleek, feather-weight chassis, all thanks to an 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and a 13.4″ Touchscreen Ultra HD+ (3840 x 2400) 500-Nit Display.

Both alternatives above are great devices, but the additional power and features come at a price. And that takes us back to the ZenBook 13, which manages to sweetly balance power and price, while at the same time offering a premium build.

8: Acer Spin 5 SP513-54N-74V2

Let’s be clear upfront. Acer’s new Spin 5 is a great laptop for streaming. Sure, it costs a few hundred dollars more than its closest competitor, the Lenovo Flex 14, but you can justify buying it for what it packs inside.

It’s a solidly built convertible that offers respectable specs for the money, including a comfortable keyboard, a peppy 10th-generation Core i7 processor, and lots of RAM.

You might also be fascinated by the included Acer Active Stylus with Wacom AES 1. 0 that lets you unleash your creative side, just like you’d do on a tablet.

Design

The Spin 5’s exterior isn’t one that will attract lots of attention, but it sure is svelte. It has a brushed metal lid and silver bezels around the housing that make it look svelte.

It measures 11.8 x 9.2 x 0.6 inches and weighs 2.6 pounds. It’s small enough to slide into a backpack or messenger bag and it will not weigh you down.

One of the most important aspects of any convertible laptop design is the hinges. You need hinges that are sturdy and reliable, while still being smooth and easy to manipulate.

Adjusting the Spin 5’s screen and rotating it from tent mode back to standard laptop orientation is seamless, and there’s very little bounce or movement on the display when typing on the keyboard.

There’s a decent amount of ports on the Acer SP513-54N-74V2, going from HDMI, two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 support, and a pair of USB 3.0 ports on the left to an SD card reader, a headphone jack, and a USB 3.0 port on the right.

Display

The 13.5-inch multitouch display on the newer Spin 5 has a 2K resolution of 2256 x 1504 pixels. Color saturation and brightness on the IPS panel are fine in spite of the bezels, but we’re pleased with the overall image quality, and don’t fall short in clarity.

When watching various YouTube videos, you don’t notice any blurriness, even on fast-moving clips. The overall picture is crisp, and you have a rechargeable Acer Active Stylus with Wacom AES 1.0 for enhanced screen interaction.

Perhaps the only complaint we have with the overall screen design is the size of the bezels surrounding the screen. At a time when most laptops, including gaming laptops, now feature thin bezels, it’s jarring to see thick bezels on the Acer Spin 5. The thick black bars are not an eyesore, but we expected something thinner to go with the modern design.

Performance

The Acer Spin 5 is the best laptop for streaming and packs a 10th generation Intel Core i7-1065G7 CPU that runs at 1.3GHz (Turbo 3.9GHz), 16GB of memory, 512GB solid-state drive, and Intel HD Graphics 620 that help the system achieve excellent performance.

The laptop remains steady even when you load 30 Google Chrome tabs, and it doesn’t stutter even when you play multiple YouTube videos and a Twitch stream in the background.

The Core i7-1065G7 is the latest mobile chip being flaunted by Intel and it surely lives up to the promise made at launch, and the fact that Acer doubles the RAM over last year’s model, totaling 16GB makes it an even more appealing choice for daily productivity.

Additionally, the 512GB SSD presents real value, both as a speedy storage option and providing enough room for storing your documents without the need for an external drive.

With these features, the Spin 5 may not be a speed demon, but it’s fine for everyday tasks like surfing the web, watching movies on Netflix, college tasks, and even spreadsheets at the office.

Most laptops in this realm employ integrated graphics, like the Intel HD Graphics 620 used here, which doesn’t manage the 30 FPS mark we consider passable quality for gaming.

The ASUS ZenBook Flip 14 UX434FLC-XH77 is among the few exceptions with a dedicated Nvidia MX250 graphics card that lets you play casual games.

Keyboard & Touchpad

The keyboard and trackpad are Spin 5’s best features, even though they are not perfect. Acer added a trackpad that’s large enough to scroll around comfortably, with well-defined edges so it’s very clear when you need to run out of room.

While the touchpad is not covered in glass, as you’d find on other premium convertibles, it still feels smooth and precise, plus it offers decent sensitivity levels so you can fine-tune the feel for tapping and right-clicking.

Acer’s decision to put the fingerprint reader in the upper-left corner somehow renders a small portion of the touchpad unusable, but that adds an extra layer of security.

As for the keyboard itself, it’s surprisingly good, with a deep 1.7 millimeters of travel. Individual keys produce a quiet but satisfying snap with a moderate amount of travel for an ultra-thin laptop.

For the fast typers, it’s possible to attain 96 words per minute, versus 104 words per minute that you’d ordinarily achieve on a mechanical keyboard.

We only wish that there was more than one level of backlighting and that the dedicated Page Up and Page Down keys were so cramped together to the left and right arrows. With that, mapping them as alternate functions on other keys would have been preferable.

Battery Life

Acer touts the new Spin 5’s battery potential to be up to 15 hours. That’s an excellent number, but as is usually the case, real-world use falls short of that estimate.

When you run PCMark’s Battery Life test, the Acer SP513-54N-74V2 is turned off at 7 hours and 24 minutes. When playing a movie von Loop, with display brightness at 50% and all radios turned off but Wi-Fi, the Spin powered through 12 hours 19 minutes.

That’s more than enough battery life to get you through a long flight while easing time watching a movie or a long work session.

Pros

  • Solid performance
  • Decent battery life
  • Solid build quality and design
  • Included Acer Active Stylus

Cons

  • Dull speakers
  • Thick bezels around the screen

Conclusion

The new Acer Spin 5 is the best laptop for streaming is a stellar, little laptop for someone who needs nothing more than a 2-in-1 convertible capable of keeping up with basic to semi-complex computing tasks.

It offers a cut above ‘basic’ with its 2K touchscreen, strong performance, and decent battery life. If you need a little more power and versatility than this, you’ll have to look in the direction of more expensive options like Microsoft’s Surface Book 2.

But for someone who is lively almost solely in Microsoft Word, Chrome, and Mail, however, will feel super-contented with the Acer Spin 5 SP513-54N-74V2 2-in-1 convertible laptop.

9: Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-59KS

The Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-59KS is the company’s latest stab into the budget gaming market, and it ticks off all the right boxes for your portable gaming and streaming needs.

Like its predecessor from last year, this Nitro 5 is designed with budget-minded gamers in mind, and it certainly expands your options for a cheap laptop that can handle demanding PC games.

That’s because the AN515-55-59KS offers more for less, with a price tag that’s hard to beat for the components. It rocks an Nvidia GeForce GTX graphics card and the latest 10th-generation Intel Core processor; then rounds up everything with a keyboard that’s comfortable enough to play for hours on end.

Design

When it comes to looks and feel, there’s a lot to be desired with the Acer Nitro 5. That doesn’t mean it’s boring or bland in fact, there are some winnings to appreciate here.

For starters, we like the minimalist gamer look, with red trimmings on the keyboard, backlight, and trackpad as well as the upper rear bar. The display hinges are sturdy and secure, and the available number of ports is a boon.

Beyond that, there’s nothing to write home about the Acer Nitro 5 design. The screen lid, for example, is made of cheap plastic, the area around the keyboard track picks fingerprints like crazy, and the screen has almost an inch of bezels around it.

Port options include the latest USB 3.2 Type C, another USB 3.2 Gen 2 (with power-off charging), two USB 3.2, one HDMI 2.0, and an Ethernet port.

Keyboard & Trackpad

More reason most of us buy Acer’s Nitro 5s is the keyboard. There’s nothing overly special about it; the symbols are in red, the backlight is also in red, and the WASD keys are emboldened in red paint.

Overall, it’s just your typical, middle-0f-the-road keyboard. Having said that, we find it very comfortable as well as quite reliable.

You’ll find the keyboard fast and responsive, and you won’t experience any lags, missed presses, or accidental presses during work or play.

As for the trackpad, it gives a lot of travel and is quite stiff. While gaming laptop trackpads are frowned upon in PC gaming, especially for FPS, RPG, and action games, we expected something better here.

Display

These are the three components we’re lukewarm about. The camera, which records video at 720p 30 fps at its highest setting, is blurry. If you’ll be using it for casual webchats, it’ll be fine, above that, don’t expect high-quality imagery here.

The Acer AN515-55-59KS is the best laptop for streaming uses a 1080p, 144Hz refresh display, which is still sharp and clear, but it appears to lean towards the darker side (even at its brightest setting) and is essentially exactly bezel-free.

Finally, the laptop’s sound is fairly hyped on the high-end and quite echoey, but you can personalize it with the equalizer in the Dolby Audio software. Simply put, it’s another laptop with subpar audio par for casual gaming and streaming unless you’re Origin.

Performance

Knowing that the Nitro 5 is a budget gaming machine, it’s safe to say that you don’t expect blazing gaming on modern titles.

Having said that, its 10th-generation Intel Core i5-10300H Processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD storage, and Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1650 Ti graphics card are limited to 1080p gaming, where it puts a strong showing when compared to other 1080p gaming laptops.

It’s important to note that its RAM, CPU, and GPU offerings mean that newer AAA games – the blockbuster in the gaming screen are most like not going to run smoothly at their highest settings.

If that’s what you need, consider something like the Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-53-72XD, which packs an RTX 2060 graphics card, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and Intel’s Core i7-10750H processor. However, be prepared to spend a little more on the Predator Helios.

Back to gaming, the Nitro 5 AN515-55-59KS is a solid performer, for as long as you stick to 1080p settings. On the Shadow of the Tomb Raider (Highest, 1080p), it hovers around 51 frames per second, which outpaces the budget gaming laptop average (36 fps).

The Lenovo Legion 5, powered by a GeForce GTX 1660Ti offers a better score on the same settings (57 fps), while the Acer Predator Helios 300 with an RTX 2060 GPU tops the list (74 fps).

At the same settings, Grand Theft Auto V plays at 42 fps, while Metro Exodus averages 51 fps. hat’s slightly better for an entry-level gaming laptop as it goes above the 37-fps average.

Battery Life

Surprisingly, the Acer Nitro 5’s battery lasts longer than you’d expect of any budget for streaming laptops. Overall, gaming laptops are notorious for their bad battery life, and we’re surprised that this guy could crank 4 hours and 13 minutes at 50% brightness.

This is partly to the newer energy-efficient 10th-generation processor and the not-so-bright display that doesn’t consume much battery.

Pros

  • Decent gaming performance for the price
  • Attractive black-and-red design
  • Great battery life

Cons

  • Dim display
  • Cheap build quality

Conclusion

The Acer Nitro 5 is almost your dream budget gaming laptop, with competition-beating hardware, 144Hz display, good frame rates, and a nice VR score. However, there’s one laptop that keeps outperforming the Nitro 5 on 1080p gaming: the new Acer Predator Helios 300.

The Intel Core i7-powered Helios 300 is a super gaming rig, sporting a punchier display, more storage, a better GPU, and better overall performance. On the plus side, the Nitro 5 triumphs over most of its competitors with a luxurious keyboard and is offered at a very reasonable price.

If decent VR performance, good battery life, and portability appeal to you, go for the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-59KS, but if you prefer a better display, more storage, a blisteringly fast CPU, and more RAM, the Acer Predator Helios 300 (PH315-53-72XD) is the better option.

10: HP 15-dy2022nr

Much like other laptops in the HP 15 laptop line, the HP 15-dy2021nr is a gorgeous device that can easily keep up with the best midrange notebooks out there.

If you’re wondering how we got here, it’s the product of HP taking a step back and re-evaluating its Pavilion lineup, which results in a new light chassis, backed by more powerful components and included Intel Iris Xe graphics.

The HP 15 (2022) may not be radically different from its predecessors. However, it does add new features including an 11th Gen Core i5 processor, and enough refinements to its design and internals, that allow it to keep up with its peers while sticking to the svelte ultrabook design.

More importantly, even with the newer hardware, it keeps the price of entry lower than that of the Dell XPS 13 and Asus ZenBook 13.

Design

While it is slightly lighter than the best laptop for streaming HP Pavilion 15 is the best laptop for streaming, the revamped look of the HP 15-dy2021nr makes it far more attractive than the 2019 predecessor.

The new design has profited from some subtle changes compared to its predecessor, most noticeably the black bezels surrounding the screen and grille vents above the keyboard, giving the HP 15 a more unique look.

On the left-hand corner sits the power button, and the right sports an additional USB-C port. As mentioned, the speaker grille that runs along the top of the keyboard sports an updated, slick design, and the speakers supply decent audio quality. The 15.6-inch screen uses IPS technology to deliver wide viewing angles on the FHD (1920 x 1080) resolution panel.

Keyboard & Touchpad

Unlike the HP Pavilion 15 best laptop for streaming, the 15-dy2021nr doesn’t feature a fingerprint reader that lets you log into Windows quickly and easily by placing your finger on the sensor.

The touchpad is centered below the keyboard and is large enough for comfortable use. However, on daily use, the touchpad isn’t as responsive as we would like, but being a midrange notebook, on the whole, it does a fine job with multi-touch gestures. Still, it isn’t as responsive as the touchpads we’ve seen on Apple’s MacBook 13.

The keyboard, on the other hand, is pretty comfortable for the work-from-home user or student who needs to churn out hundreds of term papers.

Its square, flat keys feel solid rather than wacky, with good key travel and a satisfying mid-stroke bump. If you occasionally find yourself typing a lot, the keyboard here is among the best you can get at this price point.

Performance

Our HP 15-dy2021nr review model boasts an Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD storage, and Intel Iris Graphics.

The Intel Core i5-1135G7 is an 11th-generation processor that was launched in Q2 last year, with four cores and eight threads, as well as a base frequency of 2.4 GHz that boosts up to 4.2 GHz. It also comes with Intel Iris Xe graphics.

While it isn’t powerful enough for modern games like the MSI GL65 Leopard with a dedicated GeForce RTX graphics card, it can still handle watching and editing videos, as well as photo editing.

For day-to-day use, the HP 15 performs well. It’s not the most high-powered laptop around, nor does it match the performance of its siblings like the HP Pavilion 15-eg0021nr, but it handles Windows 10 tasks well.

That makes it a perfect candidate for students, office users, and home users who often need to browse the internet, create documents, and do some light photo editing beautifully. It’s particularly an alluring choice for students thanks to its versatility.

Battery life

HP has been bragging about this year’s HP 15 battery life, claiming up to 7 hours on a single charge. Well, that sounds good on paper, but when playing a looped video with the screen at 50% brightness, the HP 15-dy2021nr lasts just over 5 hours and 18 minutes, which isn’t bad at all, but competitors last longer.

Pros

  • Solid overall performance
  • Stylish looks
  • Excellent value

Cons

  • The display could be better

Conclusion

HP has created yet another excellent budget device with this year’s HP 15 laptop. A refreshed look and souped-up internals make it a solid performer with the looks to match.

If you’re in the market for a laptop that performs well and looks premium, this is a seriously tempting device. Its build quality, design, and performance go a long way to prove that you’re getting value for every buck you spend.

However, if you need long battery life and even better performance in the same stylish outfit, then consider the HP Pavilion 15-eg0021nr.

But if you need to spend less, and can’t compromise design and performance, then the HP 15-dy2021nr is definitely worth a look you won’t spend much while at it.
